12 October 2008 - Columbus Day
It’s taking a long time to recover from the cold/flu, whatever I’ve had. I am feeling better as far as being able to breathe and not coughing as much. However, it takes a long time for me to get completely over anything and get my energy back these days. The tortilla soup was exactly what I needed - opened up my sinuses very nicely, thank you. I also took Chris’ advice and made some chicken noodle soup. It was so yummy I only got one bowlful. My family really chowed down on it.
I’ve been wanting soup a lot lately. I made some squash soup one day, besides the chicken noodle and the tortilla soups. Today I made a big pot of 15 bean soup. It is also very good. I’m not normally into hot drinks much, but I got out the hot chocolate mix today, too. We had our first snow, so hot chocolate seemed like a really good idea. And — It was!
I will be travelling to Twin Falls this week to see my doctor again. I’m going to ask him about a procedure to block the nerves so that I don’t have pain as often or as intensely. I don’t know whether it’s something I can have done while I’m there or if it will require waiting to get on a schedule. Anyway, I’ll likely be out of touch until I get home again.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that a tiny tiny dab of muscle rubbing heat stuff (you know what i mean, lol) dabbed on the end of your nose can help open your sinuses. Might be worth trying a bit on a tissue, to see if it helps?
Drink plenty of water, too, to help the nasal fluid be removed.
**Thanks. I’ll give that a try. I’ve been trying to drink lots of water, but sometimes I forget. I’ll try to be better on that one.

Have a safe trip. We did not get the snow although southern Saskatchewan did and there were a few fender benders.
We had our Thanksgiving this weekend. Johns mom brought her famous sour cabbage borscht. I love soup. I think I could eat it every day.
It is taking me a long time to totally get over the cold too. I think I am finally better but I still cough a bit in the morning. Getting older…well what can I say. Notice I said getting older. Hey…we aren’t old yet. LOL
