Slice of Life Sunday is a meme dedicated to preserving the accounts of events cut out of the lives of average people just like you from all over the word. Like having ice cream with your pie, there is more to this meme than meets the eye - it’s a meme a` la mode!
I wrote a Slice of Life on April 16 about my high school German teacher, Herr Eborn. Many of you were kind enough to say you enjoyed the story. Well, Herr Eborn’s son found the story while doing a Google search. He wasn’t sure that he liked the story and he left me a comment which led to other comments. It made my day! See it here.
Slice of Life Week 7: Sister
What can I tell you about my sister? She is my best friend, my head cheer-leader and number one critic. She is just 17 months older than me and has always been there to lead the way. She made sure I knew how to find my way to class when I started school, taught me the latest dances, and chauffeured me wherever I needed to go.
Two stories from our early days illustrate our life-long relationship. When I was just six weeks old our mother came into the bedroom where I was sleeping to check on me. Mom found Sis in my crib feeding me chocolate cake. She has willingly shared with me from that day to this. =)
A few years later when I started attending Junior Sunday School Mom was pleasantly surprised that I was adapting so well to being away from her. I went off each week without a fuss. Then one of the teachers asked Mom if she was aware that Sis sat and held me on her lap each week through Sunday School. Of course Mom was not aware of this and promptly put a stop to it. My sister has helped me through life’s trials from that day to this.
She has always been a role model and hero to me. When first I heard the song The Wind Beneath My Wings I thought it had been written about her. She is indeed
…my hero, and everything I long to be. I can fly higher than an eagle. [She is] The Wind Beneath My Wings.

This is so sweet, the bond you have with your sister seems to be very very intense!
I have two sisters, both of them I love dearly. Being able to read each other’s daily life stories through our blogs has brought us even closer together!
**My sister keeps telling me she doesn’t have time to read my blog. But we talk on the phone nearly every day.**

You are very blessed to have such a wonderful a sister. I always wanted one but had to settle for two brothers. I am very close to my baby brother and he is very protective and supportive. I used to be the protective one but with John being ill the role has reversed. I love the pictures. What pretty girls! I wore glasses that looked a lot like those. I still have them tucked away in my treasure box.
My goodness…Herr Eborn…commented? He probably had lots of girls have crushes on him. It goes with the territory. I wonder if Mr. Valdez would find out if I made a post about him? Sigh…I feel like a giggly school girl. If I could I would throw a pillow at you right now.
**Oh, me, too. I never considered the possibility. My sis keeps reminding me that this is the internet and we’ve all heard the stories. lol**

That’s a wonderful story, Eve. I always wanted a sister and the type of relationship you have with your sis. You are lucky girls!

Lovely story! I have two half-sisters. Even though I am very different from them, I cherish the bonds we have. One sister in particular was very helpful during my time in Texas. Ah, family.
