I share a home with my daughter, her husband and her children. She has four children ranging in age from 4 to 10. If there is one lesson to learn from sharing a home with children it is that peace begins with each individual. It then spreads to include those with whom we live. If our homes fail to produce peace, we will never be at peace with the world. I long for world peace - love and harmony shared by all mankind. I work for peace in my home - love and harmony shared by siblings, parents, and grandparents. When I achieve the latter, I will go to work on the former.

I think working toward peace in the home is part of working toward peace in the wider world. Isn’t it often easier to be kind to a strange than keep your temper with those you love? Aren’t we often more polite to those in our “village” than to those in our bathroom when we want in?
What I’m pondering lately is involvement in our own villages. It’s not something I’m good at. I think the world (at least the world I see) is missing the village, the sense of community. On the one hand - our community has grown due to the internet. On the other, do we know our own neighbors anymore?

**We are contemplating moving to a small town (population about 3,000) sometime in the next year or two. One of the things I’m looking forward to is that feeling of being connected to the community. It’s where my sister lives. I already feel part of the place from visiting her. The people there treat me like one of them already.

What a lovely post. I personally believe that everything is connected. What we do as individuals impacts everything/everyone around us and impacts the larger whole. Beautiful post. Peace.

I agree with you. How can we begin to have peace in the greater world if we don’t first bring peace to our own small corners.
Peace to you and yours.

I love your Peace Globe and message. I agree that peace begins within each one of us and radiates outward. I shared different Peace Globes & Blog Blasts for Peace on each of my blogs on June 4th too. Wasn’t this a wonderful idea? Hope you’re having a peace-filled day ;–)
Hugs and blessings,
