I had seen this show advertised and was not interested.  Then last week I was stuck without anything I wanted to watch.  So I tuned in.  It’s a hoot!!!  I’m watching again tonight.

The premise of the show is that we might feel differently about people who we meet, date, get acquainted with, but never see.  Three men and three women meet in a dark room for a group date.  Then they are given the opportunity to choose someone who interests them for a one-on-one.  After a few dates in the dark they have the opportunity to choose whether to meet each other in the daylight.  It’s rather interesting.  Along the way they let them look at each others cars or apartments for more clues as to who they really are.

Would you be brave enough to meet someone in the light after spending time in the dark?  I think I’d very much want to take the chance.

See a video promo here.

red-tent3I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately.  My on-line book club read The Red Tent last month.  I didn’t like it.  Gave up before I got all the way through.    I just found it very boring.  It did not hold my interest, and I got tired of the slog.  From other reviews I’ve read I surmise that it is one of those books that you love, love, love or hate, hate, hate.  I didn’t hate it.  I just thought it was boring.  I know at least one of my friends was anxious to know whether I found it offensive from a religious point of view.  No - I know the difference between historical fact and someone’s fictionalized idea of how things might have been.  Had it not been boring, the differences between the author’s idea of how things might have been and my perception of Biblical and religious truths would not have kept me from enjoying the story.  Did I mention I found it incredibly boring?  lol

time-travelers1The other book I have read recently that is getting a lot of attention is The Time Travelers Wife.  This is a book that I enjoyed.  However, I will not be going to see the movie.  Not that I doubt the movie will live up to the book, but it made me cry - a lot.  I don’t enjoy books and movies that make me cry right now.  Maybe I never will again.  It’s a good story, well-written, and interesting.  I was not bored while reading this one - not even once.  I highly recommend this with the warning that you will need the Kleenex for the final chapters.
