sleeping-jessicaMy 11-year-old granddaughter came home today with the news that she is the top reader in the school district.  They presented her with a certificate to  that effect today.  She will be taken to school on a fire engine one day soon and have an official picture taken.  I’m not sure what else they have planned to celebrate this achievement.  Mom is going to take her to dinner - just the two of them and get a nice frame for her certificate.  We are so proud of her!

Today I heard about the work-from-home job I applied for.  Thanks to all of you who sent me good wishes on this.  After the Geek Squad fixed our home network my computer passed the testing very handily.  I have been hired by Convergy’s to work as a home agent.  celebrateI will have orientation May 7 and begin work shortly thereafter.  Hurray!  I am now an employed person.  (I hope the hemp oil I take for my cholestrol won’t show up as a controlled substance in the drug test.)  lol

The Geek Squad showed up at the end of the four-hour window I was told to expect.  The guy who came was pleasant and helpful and had us up and running in short order.  He even told me what my ex-sil had done wrong so I can taunt him with that should the occasion arise. :D  Now I’m just waiting to hear back from the interviewer I have been talking to about my new job.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day outside.  No rain, no snow, just lots of lovely sunshine.  I thought about going for a walk to soak up some vitamin D, but then remembered how my last walk for health turned out.  Link  As my daughter is out of town today I decided I should wait to go walking when I have someone I can call to pick me up and take me to the ER if necessary.

I spent a large part of Easter weekend comforting and supporting a young friend who was attacked in her own home by a man she had dated a few times.  Easter Sunday I went with her to the Emergency Room while her injuries were checked out and she was processed for a ‘rape kit.’  I learned several things that I had not known before.  For instance, did you know that gathering evidence for the kit takes 4 to 5 hours?  I didn’t, either.

In the state of Idaho (not sure about other states) there is a victims’ fund that pays the medical costs associated with this type of assault.  My friend had hesitated to seek medical help because she doesn’t have insurance.  If you or anyone you know is ever in need of this type of assistance - please check out the provisions in your area.  It’s not worth taking a chance because you do not have the resources to pay for medical help.  I think most states have something similar.

On to something less traumatic.  I have applied for a job that will let me work right here at my very own computer and make $9.00 an hour plus benefits.  The only thing holding me up right now is my wireless network.  My hardware does not pass all the testing imposed by this company because I am wireless.  My ex-sil came by last night to try and reconfigure the network and get me hardwired.  The router stops working when he connects it to my machine.  :(  So, the Geek Squad will be paying a call at my house tomorrow.  I really hate that I have to pay someone to fix this - but it’s only costing a few hours’ pay.  Time I’ve worked a month I won’t even miss the money from my budget (I hope)!

We had very nice weather for Easter.  Since then it has gone back to wind, rain, and SNOW!  It’s April already.  Someone tell the weather man snow season is OVER.  I’m so ready to get out and absorb some vitamin D!

Did I mention that I’m quilting for a friend?  I’m about 1/2 finished with the baby quilt.  As soon as it’s done I have a quilt that she put together in honor of our 40th class reunion to do next.  Quilting lets me know that I have arthritis in my fingers.  Knowledge I could have lived without. ;)  I’ll put up some pictures of ‘my’ quilts later.

I think it was Forgetfulone who had a contest a few weeks ago in which I won an automatic room freshener.  If it wasn’t her, please let me know who.  I want to say Thank You.  It came from the company last week.  It works very nicely and I like it a lot.

I think I must be the Forgetfulone around here because I can’t remember this for sure.

I am still here.  Just haven’t had much to say lately.  I’m quilting a baby quilt and as soon as it is finished I have another, larger quilt to do.  I’ve been very busy not doing any of the things I wanted to do.

Daughter and I planned to go to Salt Lake last week for a singles dinner/dance on Friday and a party on Saturday.  Laura ended up going to a funeral on Friday instead.  (Her step-daughter delivered a baby prematurely and he did not live long.)  I stayed home alone.

I’ve been craving carbs and not staying with my diet at all well.  I think it has something to do with the end of the month and the only NutriSystem food I have left is the stuff I don’t like.  I should get a new shipment in a couple days - I was more picky about my order this time.  ;)

We have had a few nice days interspersed with more snow.  Today the sun is shining and the temperatures are predicted to be near 60.  WaHoo!!  I haven’t been out in the sunshine yet.  Too many things to take care of here in the house.  Today I have been taking care of my personal bookkeeping and applying for a job that lets me work from home in my jammies.  Hope I get hired!

I had intended to take some pictures when I was in Twin Falls/Buhl house-hunting, but didn’t get the opportunity to do so.  I was busier than a one-armed paper-hanger.  lol  I hope to get out and around with my camera now that the weather is starting to warm up.  I’ll post some pictures soon.

I don’t have any results from my doctor’s visit yet.  I had to have a CT scan last week.  That involved drinking a lot of icky stuff and upset my stomach for several days afterward.  Plus, they injected some stuff that can harm your kidneys, so I had to stop taking my Glumetza until I could get kidney function tests showing that I was OK.  I am.

I haven’t worked on my quilt since Saturday, so I guess I better get busy there.  I’m being paid to do this, so I need to get it finished and collect my $$$$.
