Have a ghoulish day! But don’t eat too many treats - it’ll rot your teeth. lol

I did the “open wide” thing and got three new fillings. I have just a little discomfort at the injection sites, but otherwise doing well. I’m now back home and getting back into the groove.
Today I have my annual checkup with the eye doctor. No pain involved there, but I will be dilated, so my vision is apt to be off for awhile. I also have an appointment for a massage and chiropractic adjustment today. THAT I am looking forward to.

It’s 1:30 in the morning. I am at my sister’s house again. I’ve come to Twin Falls to see my dentist tomorrow today. Although I am very tired I can’t seem to drop off to sleep. The minute I get settled in bed and turn out the light my brain turns on. I just can’t seem to relax and rest. I keep thinking about all the things we need to do to get ready to move once my daughter’s divorce is finalized in a few months. It’s really impossible to make any definite plans when the filing hasn’t even happened yet and we have no idea how long the divorce will take or what the financial situation will be. Try telling that to my over-active brain and the part of me that insists that planning ahead is essential to success in any endeavor. Hah!
A few of the things I’m thinking about -
- I need to build a better platform for my bed and raise the head a bit higher
- We need to advertise the trampoline for sale - what is a fair price?
- Gotta get rid of the dog - Anyone want a miniature dachshund with an attitude?
- I wish I hadn’t had the piano worked on quite so extensively - I still don’t know how much that is going to cost, but whatever it is I could probably put the money to better use now that I know the marriage is over
- I wish I could sleep, I wish I could sleep, I wish I could sleep!!!!
- We need to get the 4-year-old into preschool - probably shouldn’t wait on that one
- Gotta find a counselor for the kids - they already feel like Dad has abandoned them and told them lies
- How do you pick a good attorney? What’s a reasonable charge for a divorce? How ugly is this apt to get?
- Should a person have to face widow-hood and divorce both in less than six months? I know it’s not my divorce, but since I live in the same house it feels like mine.
- I wish I could sleep, I wish I could sleep, I wish I could sleep!!!!
If you have any thoughts, comments, or advice on any of these, please feel free to chime in.
I’m going to try again to go to sleep. It’s getting cold sitting here.

Daughter and I went to Buhl this weekend to help celebrate my brother-in-law’s 65th birthday. My sis asked me to bring my camera and take lots of pictures. I got over 100 of them. Thought I’d share a few with you.
There were flowers.

And cakes

Friends and family

Games to play

And, of course, cards and gifts

I didn’t get any pictures of the food, but we had hand-made tamales and chili to eat. Mmm-mmmm good!! We had lots and lots of fun.

Just a quick note before I get going on my day. I’m so excited to hear from you that you, too, are looking forward to November. I think it will be fun to revisit the world of crazy blogging.
I’m off to the church this morning for a day of Humanitarian projects. I am in charge of setting up a quilt to be tied. I’ll bring it home with me to do the binding when it is finished. They have planned projects for the kids, too. And the boy scouts are collecting canned goods.
After we finish up at the church Daughter and I are leaving almost immediately for Buhl. My brother-in-law is having a big birthday tomorrow (65). Sis is throwing a surprise party this evening to celebrate the milestone. We want to be there to help her and to congratulate the birthday boy.
Have a great weekend!!! See you all on Monday.

It will soon be November. I have signed up for NaNoWriMo this year. I’m not sure about NaBloPoMo - is there a 2008 edition? Or is 2007 going to continue on forever? Any other participants for the madness that is November? I was a new blogger when I joined NaBloPoMo last year. It really got me going. I’d like to do it again. I signed up for Blog 365, but had to drop out of that. I think one full month of blogging daily is a challenge - one full year is just crazy!
Later: I’m taking the plunge. I found myself a button for 2008 November NaBloPoMo. So I’m making the commitment. 30 blogs in 30 days.

My friends, I have been distracted by other things in my life recently. My son-in-law has adopted the attitude of a man who doesn’t have hemorrhoids - you know, a perfect ass. Living here in the same house, I have been pulled into my daughter’s marital problems. It looks like we’re going to have a divorce for Christmas.
I’ve been trying not to let this overtake my whole life and definitely to keep it out of my blog, etc. However, there is this elephant in the living room that is keeping me from my normal activities. Maybe it’s time I talked about it occasionally.
I saw both my doctor and my dentist while I was gone. I’ve got to go back in a couple weeks to get some fillings done. The procedure I asked my doctor about is mostly done for patients with pancreatic cancer. The good effects only last about a year, so it’s not something that would be much help to me. I’ve rather gotten used to these bouts of pain, so I guess I can keep on dealing with them.
We’ve been having some lovely weather for a few days. Traveling was great! However, they are predicting rain/snow for Tuesday with accompanying lower temperatures. Can’t quite decide if we’re going to have Fall, Winter, or Spring. At least we’re not getting bored with the same thing every day.
I got some pictures to share with you while I was traveling.
This is the countryside near my cousin’s home in Jerome, ID.

12 October 2008 - Columbus Day
It’s taking a long time to recover from the cold/flu, whatever I’ve had. I am feeling better as far as being able to breathe and not coughing as much. However, it takes a long time for me to get completely over anything and get my energy back these days. The tortilla soup was exactly what I needed - opened up my sinuses very nicely, thank you. I also took Chris’ advice and made some chicken noodle soup. It was so yummy I only got one bowlful. My family really chowed down on it.
I’ve been wanting soup a lot lately. I made some squash soup one day, besides the chicken noodle and the tortilla soups. Today I made a big pot of 15 bean soup. It is also very good. I’m not normally into hot drinks much, but I got out the hot chocolate mix today, too. We had our first snow, so hot chocolate seemed like a really good idea. And — It was!
I will be travelling to Twin Falls this week to see my doctor again. I’m going to ask him about a procedure to block the nerves so that I don’t have pain as often or as intensely. I don’t know whether it’s something I can have done while I’m there or if it will require waiting to get on a schedule. Anyway, I’ll likely be out of touch until I get home again.

Thirteen Pictures of Us Painting
Edition 19 - 10/2/08
(Disclaimer: My grandson took many of these pictures. For some he was in the rocking chair - apparently rocking! :-) They may be a bit blurrier than usual.)
This is what the room looked like before we started today. Our “piano wall” is primed and ready to go. The rest of the room is still showing it’s 1970’s origins.

This svelt young thing with rollers in her hair is me. The other one is my daughter.

You’ll notice I traded in the rollers in my hair for one in my hand.

And we’re done!
(If you look closely you can see a spot of paint on the part of me the protrudes the most.)

This is also a picture taken by my grandson. It’s supposed to show me washing the rollers off with the hose and spinning paint and water everywhere. Obviously he was more interested in the lovely fall colors showing in our tree. lol

Visit other Thursday Thirteen’s here.

I am feeling ‘way better today. Finally!! So -
My daughter and I are painting her living room. Actually today we’re just doing one wall. We have the piano out being repaired and tuned so thought we would get that wall painted before they bring it back. It’s supposed to be delivered tomorrow. So far we got the wall washed down and primed. We’ll put the paint on in the morning when the light is better again. (We live in one of those 70’s houses with no overhead lights. The west-facing window is heavily shaded so no light comes in there, either.) I’ll take some pictures tomorrow and show you what we’ve accomplished. She picked out a pretty taupe.

(Not our actual room)
