Sick Days - How I Hate ‘Em
O the nausea, O the pain,
O the cantankerousness of my brain
I want to do all the things I should
Mow the lawn, chop the wood
Take a walk out in the sun
Diet and exercise can be fun
But my body says “Don’t go,
You need to stay close to the john, you know.”
So I curl up with my blanket and book
A warm pad for my tummy in a cozy nook
And hope that nobody comes to see me
Because I am cranky as cranky can be!
The care that I crave exceeds any other -
The loving touch of my angel Mother.

I am not having a good day. Either I’ve caught the stomach flu bug the grandkids had over the weekend and it has triggered my chronic pancreatitis or I’m just having pancreatitis without any trigger. Either way I am nauseated and I hurt. None of this would be a problem, but I’m babysitting today while my daughter has allergy tests. I’m just a bit cranky (ok - a lot cranky). I have taken my demerol and have something I can take for the nausea if it gets worse. YUK! I don’t have time to be sick. I have things to do, food to eat. I got my bills paid, and I’m hoping I didn’t make any huge mistakes. I don’t think I did. We’ll see. I ran out of stamps so I can’t send the checks off and I can’t go to the PO to get more. I tried to pay my bills, anyway. Do I get an E for effort? 
Life sometimes sucks!

I sometimes write poetry for my own pleasure and satisfaction. I recently saw one of those “poetry contest” blurbs and decided “why not?” Now it seems as though I have to get my friends and family to rate my poem in order to win. This is my ‘maiden’ post. It is Tuesday, September 11, 2007. A lot of talk about the bombings six years ago. Not something I want to dwell on. On my list of things to do today is to pay my bills and visit Ed. I will probably try to get a bit of exercise, too. Doctor says I really need to lose weight before I have irreversible damage from diabetes, elevated BP, and elevated lipids. Oh, it is so hard!
